Well, it's that time of year again...back to school. I must say, this is probably the most excited I've been about the start of a new school year. After New Teacher Orientation and then Staff Orientation, I am ready to meet my students and get this year started.

What's really exciting to me is the atmosphere of Rosslyn (the international Christian school I'm teaching at). Everyone is so positive and encouraging. It's obvious there is something different about this place. The teachers and staff truly live out the school's Core Values of Christ-likeness, Community, Service, Excellence, and Intellectual Virtue.

| Going for a "techy" theme: I've got a Twitter bulletin board so students can tweet their favorite books |
Someone pointed out that by teaching at Rosslyn we are going into the nations as Jesus said. There are so many nationalities and backgrounds represented in each classroom. We have a unique opportunity to share the love of God with our students and their families. Please lift up our teachers as they prepare for a new school year and for our students as they transition into new classrooms.

Educational sidenote- I'm going to implement the Daily 5 into my classroom curriculum this year. I've been on Pinterest getting some good ideas!

It's been pretty overcast since I've been here, remember it's winter in Kenya right now. So, on Saturday when the sun was shining most of the day and you could see blue sky, I snapped a pic of my home. :)

Lindsey, Johnny and I went for an adventure (since the sun was out) to see the Rift Valley from the escarpment. It was amazing how vast the area is and how far you could see. We viewed Mt. Longonot and other land-forms in the distance. It wasn't perfectly clear, but it was an fun weekend expedition. My pictures don't really do it justice.
